60% of all our students have no prior formal training. They joined the Stevenson Academy with just a strong interest in art. Yet, all of our students are blown away with their first and second paintings and sculptures produced here. Our carefully prepared curriculum is based on our committment to the fullest development of each students' talent and skills. Starting with the right foundation, an emphasis on the fundamentals of fine art training, our instructors use many of the same principals and techniques of 19th Century European art academies. We offer a full range of programs for entry levels students to the serious student seeking a successful art career.
Student Testimonial
"Right from the start, beginning art students at SAFA consistently produce high quality work on a level that cannot be matched at well regarded NYC art schools and at others across the country. This success can be attributed to the foundation program in which every student, whether experienced or not, must first complete. Other art schools often neglect or mistakenly assume that students possess these fundamental skills upfront. Director, and master illustrator, Attila Heija gives students one-on-one and small group instruction in the foundation curriculum. This important core fundamental track lays the proper groundwork to help students to quickly progress to advanced work and eventually to a professional level for some. It's as if you are getting a master class with every class you attend! SAFA fills a much needed void here on Long Island. It's the fast track to building strong classical art skills here in Long Island."
