Intermediate & Advanced Painting:
Color and the Painted Sketch
Thursday 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Working from different still life
subjects, students will learn from a series of exercises designed
to develop their faculties of compositional design, color perception
and paint handling. During each class, students will complete
one small oil sketch or poster 'study'.
Intermediate & Advanced
Drawing & Painting:
Spaces, Interiors & Perspective
Thursday 12:30 pm - 3:30 pm
Working from observation, both
in the studio and on site at locations around Oyster Bay, drawing
& painting students will learn to develop convincing architectural
compositions. A focus will be placed on compositional design,
perspective and the anatomy of light.
Intermediate & Advanced
Figure Drawing &
Painting
Thursday 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Through demonstrations and individual
critiques, students will learn concepts and tools necessary
for naturalistically depicting the human figure while working
from life. Based on 19th centruy French Academic techniques,
students will learn a clear yet flexible method in which to
construct their drawings and paintings.Topics will also include;
the anatomy of light and shadow, structural and physical anatomy,
proportion and achieving a likeness, color and visual perception.
